Investors are being told to look overseas for equity returns as the ASX 200 Index is expected to have a lacklustre year after billions of dollars have been yanked from Australia’s banking and mining giants.
Perpetual, one of the country’s largest investors, said there were better buying opportunities in Europe and the UK than in Australia, and earnings on the ASX 200 are expected to increase only slightly in the 2025 financial year – not nearly enough to justify a price-to-earnings ratio of almost 20.
