The Reserve Bank continued to withhold paying the government a dividend from its excess earnings last year and has remained in negative equity despite recording its first profit in five years.
Lower interest rates, higher valuations of its government bond assets and the rocketing price of gold were all contributing to the most positive financial accounts for the RBA in years.
