Gas pipeline giant APA Group will join Queensland state-owned CS Energy in a $1 billion-plus gas power plant to be built in the Western Downs, representing an expansion in a type of generation expected to have an enduring role through the transition to low-carbon energy.
APA will own 80 per cent of the 400-megawatt Brigalow Peaking Power Plant, which will be the state’s first new gas power generation in more than a decade when it comes online in 2028.
