But it was also a year of significant change. This time 12 months ago, HMC Capital managing director David Di Pilla had corporate Australia wrapped around his pinkie. Just a year on and most of his deal originators have hit the road: a much-vaunted energy transition strategy is a shadow of its former self and data centre bet DigiCo is trading almost 40 per cent lower.
