Australian shares are set to open higher, taking direction from Wall Street after November CPI data helped to revive hopes for a January US rate cut. Tesla paced each of the seven mega-cap techs higher.

The S&P 500 was up 0.9 per cent near at 3.22pm in New York, bolstered by Micron Technology’s post-results surge. Core consumer prices rose 2.6 per cent in November from a year ago. The overall CPI climbed 2.7 per cent last month from the year before.
