Australian shares are set to start the week on a sour note after a surprise jump in US jobs creation hammered hopes for an imminent interest rate cut from the Federal Reserve.
S&P/ASX 200 futures fell 71 points, or 0.9 per cent, in US trading. The Australian dollar tumbled 0.8 per cent to trade at US61.44¢ – its lowest level since the pandemic in 2020 – as the greenback rose.
