ASX to fall; Dollarama snaps up The Reject Shop for $259m

Australian shares are set to open lower as renewed angst about US President Donald Trump’s trade policies reversed a rebound in US mega-cap technology shares in New York.

ASX 200 futures were 37 points, or 0.5 per cent lower, predicting the local bourse would snap a five-day winning streak. That’s after concerns about the impact of Donald Trump’s global trade war resurfaced on Wall Street overnight, sending stocks plummeting.
