ASX to rise; MinRes to ‘strongly defend’ lawsuit; iron ore rallies

Australian shares are set to rise in line with trading in New York after more clues about the severity of US reciprocal tariffs, and how trade partners may respond, whipsawed markets.

ASX futures were pointing up 0.4 per cent, or by 28 points, near 8am AEDT. Futures rose and fell before settling higher, after the White House said US President Donald Trump’s reciprocal tariffs would take immediate effect on April 2.
