The Australian sharemarket on Tuesday reset its all-time high for the third time in the past week, as gains in consumer-related stocks propelled the index above the 8500 mark for the first time.
The S&P/ASX 200 rose 0.8 per cent, or 66.6 points, to 8514.5, taking year-to-date gains to over 11 per cent. Of the 11 sectors, 10 were flashing green with financials the top gainer. Utilities was the only sector going backward with AGL and Origin down.
