US and Australian monetary policies are on increasingly different paths. The Federal Reserve has indicated it is in no rush to cut interest rates, while in Australia, expectations of Reserve Bank easing are on the rise.
On Thursday, National Australia Bank joined the other big four in tipping an interest rate cut in February, bringing its forecast forward from May. ANZ, Commonwealth Bank and Westpac are already unified in expecting a cut at the first policy meeting of 2025.
