Renewables logjam hits NSW transmission grid

A large wind and battery project planned by an affiliate of Andrew Forrest’s Squadron Energy has failed to secure access to the transmission grid in a renewable energy zone in NSW even after winning federal underwriting support, according to sources.

A lack of coordination between the federal and NSW government schemes is being blamed for the difficult situation of the Junction Rivers venture near Balranald, planned by Windlab. The developer is 75 per cent owned by Squadron.
