ASX to open lower, Wall St churns; gold surges to fresh record

Australian shares are set to open lower as President Donald Trump’s erratic trade policy continues to cloud the economic outlook.

ASX 200 futures were pointing down 8 points, or by 0.1 per cent, predicting the bourse would open just ahead of the 8000 mark. That’s after shares traded in a narrow range in New York and closed marginally lower.
