Overview

The Australian sharemarket is poised to open higher, though a potential extended slump in CSL could dent the opening advance. ASX Ltd and Commonwealth Bank are also in focus.

CSL shares plunged 5 per cent late in Tuesday’s session after the sudden exit of its chief executive in the final minutes of trading, dragging the market lower after the official close. The global biotechnology giant reported a 7 per cent slide in underlying profit on Wednesday to $US1.9 billion ($2.68 billion).
