A year after $TRUMP craze, the memecoin market is struggling for life

Just over a year ago, $TRUMP was worth $24 billion, then $11 billion. Now the US president’s official crypto token is valued at just $1.3 billion. The entirety of Melania Trump’s own memecoin – as the entirely speculative, largely useless tokens are known – is worth just $29 million.

In only 12 months, the crypto frenzy that swept global markets and every social media platform from TikTok to Reddit has faded away, mirroring a slide in the biggest digital currencies of them all: bitcoin and ethereum.
