Amazon rides data centre boom to nearly $12b in local revenue

The global tsunami of investment in artificial intelligence powered Amazon to almost $12 billion in revenue in Australia last year, as the e-commerce, cloud computing and streaming juggernaut cashed in on a huge surge in demand for its data centres.

Accounts lodged with Australia’s corporate regulator reveal Amazon’s total revenue leapt almost 50 per cent in the 2025 calendar year to $11.9 billion, up from $8 billion in the prior year.
