Overview

ASX chairman David Clarke says the sharemarket operator’s board won’t be rushed in its efforts to appoint a new chief executive to tackle its regulatory and technology issues, as some investors urge the board to focus on external candidates for the leadership refresh.

Incumbent chief executive Helen Lofthouse will step down from her role and part ways with the ASX in May, a move revealed by The Australian Financial Review on Tuesday. It was later confirmed by the ASX and comes as the exchange responds to the preliminary findings of a sweeping inquiry into its governance and model.
