ASX sell-off intensifies as investors brace for oil shock

The possibility of a prolonged war in the Middle East is threatening to finally crack a multi-year bull run in equity markets as investors fret that a sharp rise in energy prices will unleash a wave of inflation.

Iran launched a fresh barrage of missile and drone strikes across the Gulf on Thursday (Friday AEST) as Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi rejected reports that his country had asked for a ceasefire, and declared it had no intention to negotiate with the US and Israel.
