ASX set to fall 1.7pc as S&P 500 dives on market jitters

Australian investors are bracing for a potential rocky start on the Australian Securities Exchange with futures pointing to a drop greater than 1.5 per cent.

Futures tied to the ASX 200 closed down ahead of the 10am AEDT by 1.7 per cent with 142 points set to be wiped. The potential wipeout comes after Wall Street reversed strong early gains to close deeply in the red.
