Overview
Australian shares are set to open higher, tracking modest gains on Wall Street. Oil was steady. Bitcoin tumbled below $US68,000. ASX 200 futures were up 38 points or 0.4 per cent to 8789.
In New York, the S&P 500 recovered from an opening swoon to be 0.1 per cent higher at the close, paced by utilities and materials. The index has now risen for nine straight sessions, its longest winning streak since May last year.
