ASX to rise, oil reaches six-week high

Australian shares are poised to rise. US stocks wavered ahead of results from Alphabet, Google’s parent, and Tesla after the closing bell. Oil edged still higher as the US and Iran continued to joust.

Both Alphabet and Tesla fell about 3 per cent, respectively, in extended trade as investors parsed their results and conference call commentary.
