A bid by APA Group to rush through approval for a $244 million gas pipeline expansion in Victoria’s south-west has drawn opposition from an LNG import terminal backed by billionaire businessman Andrew Forrest, which says the development will not be a good use of consumers’ money.

Forrest’s private company Squadron Energy and pipeline company Jemena, which is investing in infrastructure linked to the Port Kembla import terminal, have told the energy regulator that the expansion is not needed.
