JP Morgan banker bonuses pop as Wall Street bank goes on hiring spree

JP Morgan’s Australian investment banking division is expanding its team in financial sponsors and two sectors after staff were handed bigger bonuses following a solid year for the local franchise.

Bankers were informed of their bonuses last week, and people briefed on the matter who requested anonymity as they were not permitted to comment said the local pool was up between 10 per cent and 15 per cent on last year, reflecting a pick-up in deal activity and market share.
