Markets lift bets on September US rate cut, economists hedge: 22 views

The probability of a quarter point cut in US interest rates in September rose to 94.1 per cent, according to the CME Group’s FedWatch Tool, after headline consumer prices rose moderately in July.

Economists were divided in their interpretation of the data, given core CPI rose 3.1 per cent on an annual basis.
