Bond traders and equity investors are hoping that one more rate increase from the Reserve Bank of Australia this year will be enough to bring down inflation after the central bank lifted the cash rate for a third time this year on Tuesday.
After the RBA raised the cash rate by a quarter of a percentage point to 4.35 per cent in a decisive 8-1 vote, governor Michele Bullock told a packed press conference that the interest rates were now starting to look a “bit restrictive”.
