Santos gears up for another LNG financing after paying off PNG early

Santos is nearing a major commitment to a large new LNG project next year amid nervousness about a softening in global gas prices and worries about the cost of an investment that was last put at more than $27 billion.

Kevin Gallagher, the oil and gas giant’s chief executive, said a “significant” part of the costs of Papua LNG would be funded by project financing and by leveraging the proven performance of the nearby PNG LNG operation where the debt has been paid off six months ahead of schedule.
