Santos has missed its end-of-year deadline to ship the first cargo of LNG from its $6.1 billion Barossa gas project in the Timor Sea, creating an early threat to a forecast big lift in the oil and gas producer’s output in 2026.
When Santos gave the go-ahead for construction in March 2021, production from the Barossa venture – which supplies replacement gas to the Darwin LNG export plant – was originally targeted to start by June 30, 2025.
