Santos chief executive Kevin Gallagher has torn into demands from manufacturers that they be supplied with cut-price gas, taking to new heights the tense discord between producers and energy users over the federal government’s gas reservation scheme.
Gallagher said management and boards of gas producers would be breaching their fiduciary duties and would be crucified by shareholders and regulators if they signed contracts below the full cost of gas supply.
