The largest fund manager in Australia is not who you think it is

Ron O’Hanley sits on top of an enormous amount of money. As the chairman and chief executive of State Street, he oversees the world’s fourth-largest asset manager with $US5.1 trillion ($7.8 trillion) of assets.

But that’s a modest sum compared to the near $US50 trillion of assets that rely on State Street’s systems and technology for safe keeping and reporting. It’s a figure that’s almost double the GDP of the United States.
