Overview

Australia’s wealthiest investors are scrambling to get a slice of Elon Musk’s SpaceX rocket company and his artificial intelligence group xAI, with one family office raising more than $US50 million ($72 million) to invest in the world’s richest man as he seeks to develop data centres in space.

BFA Global Investors, a private assets investment manager run by former Victor Smorgon Group executive Jonathan Belz and Gavin Ezekowitz, last month offered clients another bite at SpaceX, which is merging with xAI, for a minimum buy-in of $US100,000 ($144,000). The transaction closed last week ahead of the merger.
